Central Valley Vintage Base Ball participated in Duncans Mills Civil War Days on July 14, teaching the soldiers how to play this "new" game of base ball, with 1864 rules of course.
Players from the organization organized pickup games on the battlefield before and after the 1:00 battle reenactment, bringing along period-accurate bases, balls, and bats. Re-enactors from both the confederate and union camps learned base ball the way it was played by soldiers in the Civil War during their downtime. The organization wants to thank the California Historical Artillery Society for putting on the event and welcoming us with open arms. CVVBB hopes to be at more Civil War reenactments in the near future. Here are a few pictures from the event:

CVVBB is proud to announce that they are now on Instagram @centralvalleyvintagebaseball
Though they have already built up a following on Facebook, this is the organization's maiden voyage onto another social network. They hope to use the platform to increase social engagement and awareness in the community. Central Valley Vintage Base Ball is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the California Museum's "California At Bat" exhibit's Home Opener event on July 29th from 12-4 PM.
Founder Matt "Brandywine" Stone will be giving a presentation at 2:15 PM, where he will be demonstrating the rules of the 19th Century game and talking about the history of baseball in the Sacramento region. The organization will also have a table set up for the event, where people can learn more about the early game and the people who played it. "California at Bat: America's Pastime in the Golden State" is a new exhibit at the California Museum highlighting the history of baseball in the state from the days of the Gold Rush to the present.
