The mission of Central Valley Vintage Base Ball shall be to preserve and promote the history of 19th century base ball in the California Central Valley, and to educate the public by way of lectures, living history demonstrations, workshops, and historical theater performances in the form of intra- and interclub match games. These objectives will be accomplished by the following activities and endeavors:
- Portraying the game of base ball by rules representative of the formative days of the game in the years following the California Gold Rush and subsequent settlement into the Central Valley (1857-1864), with a heavy emphasis on living history interpretation reflective of competitive spirit tempered by ideals of gentlemanly and fair play.
- Supporting the implementation and development of vintage base ball clubs by sharing information, abiding by standards of the Vintage Base Ball Association (VBBA) with regard to historical accuracy and participation, and providing means to communicate with other vintage base ball clubs in other associations and leagues.
- Encouraging research and disseminating information between and within clubs to recreate the game with high standards of accuracy and authenticity.
- Educating the public regarding history, culture, character, and growth of the game, with special attention to the historical context in which it originated and developed in the Central Valley.
